Fans Go Too Far; Josh Hamilton's Wife Calls Security at Game Friday

This is one of those stories that you hate to hear about, bit sadly are becoming all too common in sports these days.

Katie Hamilton, the wife of Angels 'slugger' Josh Hamilton, felt the need to call for security Friday when her husband's new team took on his old team. Apparently the fans were not just giving her husband a hard time, but were yelling things at her as well.

Before Saturday's game (which the Angels won 8-4) Josh had this to say:
"She had to call security just because people were getting ugly. It's cool to get ragged on about normal things, but when you get a little swearing and jawing back at Katie and saying inappropriate things, it's a little different story.
They were saying personal stuff, stuff that was inappropriate with kids around. It's a good lesson for the kids, just about people in general and not putting faith in them, but the man upstairs.''
Josh Hamilton has his faults as a player, and yes. he could have/should have handled himself better towards the end of last season and since changing teams as well. But there is no reason, need, or excuse for taking out frustrations with him on his wife and kids.

When did we lose all sense of human decency at sporting events people? It's bad enough that there are countless stories of violent behavior during the football season. Does anyone remember the tale of Bryan Stow? Come on! It's just a game!

Going to sporting events is something that is supposed to be fun for the family to do, but more and more these days it seems like they need to be 18 and up. People seem oblivious to the things that they do and turn to violence way too easy.

Now I know that there wasn't any violence here, but the behavior of the fans had to be pretty serious for her to feel the need for security. As a Texan and a Rangers fan I am embarrassed.

Grow up people. Bash the player all you want when he is on the field, but leave his family alone. His wife and kids--kids people!--should not have to pay for your perception of his 'crimes.'
