His foul has now been upgraded to a flagrant 2 and he has been suspended for Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Saturday.
The popular sentiment has been that the refs were wrong with only issuing a flagrant one against Birdman. he should have been ejected. As it turns out the NBA commissioner, David Stern, agrees:
“I do think he should have been ejected. I looked at the replays and, it seems to me, there was no immediate push or shove of him, he just hauled off and knocked down Tyler Hansbrough. I don’t know what he was doing. And then he pushed him. And then he did not go gracefully to the bench.”Stern also alluded to a review being conducted and further action being taken, and apparently wasted no time in making it happen.
