By now the collusion comments made by former Indianapolis Colts great turned San Diego Charger Dwight Freeney have been reprinted in just about every media outlet online and hard print. It's controversy and next to sex nothing sells better.
In case you've missed them here is the lowdown. According to Dwight the owners all got together and made a plan to short change the veteran free agents this off-season and not spend a lot of money. Those dirty rats colluded to cheat the vets and not pay them what they are worth.
In a sense he is right, but at the same time he is wrong. Yes, the owners are at fault here, but the players are just as much to blame. After all, they agreed to the collective bargaining agreement just like the owners did.
The lack of spending on vets is either a stroke of evil genius and pre-planning on the part of the owners or a simply a byproduct of one of the main beefs the owners had going into CBA talks...
