In a recent radio interview the 48-year old native Texan showed off his football acumen, and expressed his support of the home team's embattled quarterback-Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo.
To be fair, its not a clear-cut, 100 percent endorsement of Romo. While he does compliment his ability and talent in regards to the game he kind of takes a dig at his mental acuity. In an interview on 105.3 the Fan in Dallas he had this to say:
“My problem with Dallas is I think Tony Romo is a damn good quarterback, but he [expletive] the bed at the most inopportune times so when I look for leadership, I can’t say that Tony Romo is the clear-cut leader….. He’s got all the physical tools. He’s inherently accurate. He’s got a quick release. He doesn’t have the strongest arm in the world, but he can damn sure throw so he just needs to do some brain work.”I don't think he was calling Romo stupid or anything, but that maybe he does not have the mental side of the game down; the one that allows him to make the reads and hence the plays in the clutch. He could also be saying that Romo needs to stay of the golf course, get in the film room, study his play book, and make sure that he knows what the defense is going to do before they do.
You know--brain work. With the kind of money Jerry Jones is paying him now I don't think he would disagree.
