Arizona Diamondbacks Have a Mascot That Can Kick Your Mascot's Butt

I think it is safe to say now that the Arizona Diamondbacks now have a mascot that can kick the *sses of every other mascot in baseball-- their very own Lucha libre wrestler!

From @MLB
Baxter the Bobcat had been the team's mascot since 2000 and has been a crows favorite at Chase Field. It appears that he will now be joined by the team's very own luchador (a masked Mexican professional wrestler).

The style of wrestling is known as Lucha libre which literally translates into "free fighting." In recent years a number of teams have taken to having Lucha libre nights and giving away thousands of team inspired masks to fans.

Arizona will be doing just that on July 20 with masks for the first 20,000 fans. On September 15 the first 5000 kids will be able to get their very own Lucha libre cape!

It is important to note that the D-Backs Luchador is not replacing Baxter the Bobcat, but joining him.

Here's a though--instead of awarding home field advantage to the winner of the All-Star game how about a massive battle royal with luchadors representing all 30 teams? Oh--fans can even vote on the player to represent the team! Now that would be an event worth watching!

Wait--no. Someone would probably try to bring Jose Canseco's big self back into the league and we can't have that.
