Jose Reyes Takes One for the Team in the Family Jewels

Toronto Blue Jays short stop Jose Reyes has not been one of my favorite players in baseball ever since I took him with an early pick in my fantasy baseball draft a few years back and he only played a handful of games before getting hurt. However, after watching him make a play I have developed a new found respect for the man.

It's a 1-1 game in the fifth inning and Reyes is on first. He's not the bad*ss that he once was on the bases, but he is still a threat to steal at any given moment. So when Chris Archer--the Rays starting pitcher--thought Reyes had taken a pretty big lead off of first he went for the pick off.

And someone managed to him right in his little bat and balls--but that is not why I have a new found respect for the man.

Even though he was in some serious pain after taking a really hard ball that was travelling pretty darn fast to his little buddies he still made sure he had a hand on the bag.

Any dude that can be in that kind of pain and still want to make sure he was safe is alright in my book.
