Nebraska Head Coach Bo Pelini Pranks His Team

There has been an underlying theme to preseason college football news. Outside of the who got hurt, who is going to start, and who is looking like a contender--the usual stuff--a lot of head coaches have been showing off their lighter side. We've had teams go bowling; another brought a bounce house in. I can't remember who but there was even a slip n'slide at one team's 'practice.' Not to mention one ice cream truck after another.

Nebraska Head Coach Bo Pelini wanted to have some fun with his team, but decided he would have some fun at this team's expense first.

If you are not too aware of Bo Pelini and his personality the prank he played on the team may not seem as funny. To describe him in a nutshell--he is one passionate and fiery kind of guy. He is an in-your-face, animated kind of guy that is not afraid to let you know what he is thinking--especially if he is mad at you.

Let me present Exhibit A:

I don't know for certain, but it is probably safe to say that the players see this side of him all the time so when he gets mad at a player as part of the prank it is completely believable--and funny:

I like it. I like seeing a coach know how to not only have fun, but have fun at his own expense. Too often we--fans, players, coaches, analysts--get wrapped up in the serious side of college football and forget that we are talking about a bunch of kids playing a game; one that should be fun.

And it clearly is for the Cornhuskers.
