Boston Red Sox Win Pitchers Duel to Take 2-1 Lead in ALCS

Boston pitcher John Lackey was not too happy about coming out of the game in the seventh  inning, but he has to be happy with the end result.

Lackey (6.2 innings, 8 Ks) and the bullpen held the Tigers to six hits over the course of the game and no runs. Mike Napoli gave Boston the only run it needed with a solo-jack in the seventh and the Red Sox went on to win 1-0.

Justin Verlander threw a great game for the Tigers going 8 innings, striking out 10, and allowing just four hits, but one of those happened to the deciding home run (to Napoli in the 7th).

Boston now holds a 2-1 series lead and will look to extend it to 3-1 in Game Four of the ALCS Wednesday night in Detroit.
