Rays Stay Alive Thanks to Historic Walk-Off Home Run by Jose Lobaton

They will never admit it, but I bet that some of the Red Sox were thinking of doing like the LA Dodgers and going for a swim after they beat the Rays in Game 3 of the ALDS Monday night. For awhile it looked like they were going to get the chance.

Then the back-up catcher came up to bat in the bottom of the ninth with the game tied--and made history.

Jose Lobaton had been subbed in at the top of the ninth. He's really not known for his power with just seven home runs to his name from during the season. So what does he do? He knocks one into the fish tank (which surprisingly no one dived in after; what the?) to give the Rays the 5-4 and a stay of execution in the 2013 post season.

So while that alone is more than enough to make it a special home run, this one holds some historical significance. It is the first post season walk-off home run in Tamp Bay franchise history.

Not bad Rays. Now do it again tomorrow
