Teddy Bridgewater: Forget Mike; I Want to be Like Peyton

It has to be tough to be a quarterback in college football these days. Back in the day you just had to worry about getting sacked, completing passes, studying film, and going to practice. Now there is the ever present spotlight that the media sticks on you and the social media vultures ready to tweet or share your every move.

So in a day like this it is even more important to have a good role model. Everyone needs someone to look up to. Louisville quarterback Teddy Bridgewater was recently asked that question, and you'll never guess who he wants to be like.

Since you can see the picture I suppose you can--it's Peyton Manning.

When I first heard about this I was under the impression that Teddy was describing his game as being most like Peyton's. To be honest, I was a little surprised that he made that kind of comment. It's not that Teddy is not a tremendous talent (I think we all know that he is). He has just always seemed a little more on the humble side to me.

But then when I noticed that it was an ESPN report it all made sense. They were misrepresenting what he said (shocker).

The segment that he was on had him answering questions from fans, and the question did want him to say what player he was most like in the NFL. That's not how he answered it though.

This is one of the many reasons why he is the kind of guy fans can get behind. Rather than brag about himself he tweaks the question ever so slightly to who he wants to be like rather than who he is like.

Who better to want to emulate than the best in the game?

Well said Teddy and shame on you ESPN for twisting his words to make for a catchier tweet.
