Oklahoma Pulls Off a Huge Upset With 14-Point Win Over Alabama in the Sugar Bowl

Alabama was not supposed to win the Sugar Bowl. The Crimson Tide had too strong of a defense, their running game was as tough as they come, Nick Saban knows a thing or two about winning big games, and his quarterback does too. Oklahoma had a great running game and solid defense, but not much of a passing game.

So when Trevor Knight lit up the Alabama defense for 348 yards and four touchdowns en route to a 45-31 victory the general reaction from 'Bama fans and Sooners alike was this:

Knight seemed to come into his own as the game developed. The red shirt freshman was on target for the deep passes and just as adept and hitting his receivers underneath as well. If you look closely at the GIF below you can see him give a pump fake as he nears the sideline right before throwing the ball.

If that is not a stud move....well, it is.

From Bleacher Report
It wasn't all him of course. The defense had trouble stopping the Alabama defense. A.J. McCarron became the first Crimson Tide QB to throw for over 3000 yards in a single season with 387 yards on the night (giving him 3063). Derrick Henry exploded on to the scene with 160 combined yards and two touchdowns.

When push came to shove the defense held strong forcing four turnovers which the offense was kind enough to score three touchdowns off of (the defense scored the TD themselves on the other).

This one is going to sting for Alabama. They kept making big play after big play; with the exception of Yeldon's one-yard touchdown on the first drive of the game the shortest touchdown play was Henry's 43-yard run in the third quarter. Penalties were an unusual problem for them as well.

In the end the real winner here was not Oklahoma (well, they were), but the fans. This was an incredible and exciting game to watch!

So from this football fan--thanks guys.
