Can Former Texas Longhorns QB Case McCoy Make an NFL Roster?

It's been a long, strange road for Texas Longhorns quarterback Case McCoy. Expectations were high since he was the little brother of the great Colt McCoy, but he was more or less a back up for most of his career. When he did finally get the chance to play this past season he did look pretty good at times (i.e. Oklahoma).

Since his college days are behind him that leaves one question--can he make an NFL roster?

There is no way he gets drafted. He simply didn't play well enough and for a long enough period of time to warrant being Mr. Irrelevant. However, when he did get a chance to play last season he played well--and not just against the crappy teams.

Statistically he never really lit it up. He was more of a game manager, but in all fairness he did a good job of that against some tough competition(i.e. like Oklahoma, when he went 13-21 for 190 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception).

Yeah, you can say that the defense had a lot to do with that one and they did, but he did his job. Against some of the better teams he didn't look so good, but neither did the rest of the Longhorns.

So the question that scouts will have to decide is whether they saw enough from him to give him a shot as a free agent. Maybe he could be a project player that could develop with a year or two on the practice squad. He would certainly come cheap.

Or maybe the reason he didn't shine was because he peeked in high school. What do you think internet?

  3. You need to proof read your stuff before you post it. Just saying. It was pretty painful to read with all of your mistakes.

    1. Ouch! Yeah I did a terrible job proofing that one. Thanks for the heads up.

    2. Are you going to fix it then? The first error started in the 2nd sentence. Case McCoy is not the little brother of Case McCoy.
