Colorado Rockies to Retire Todd Helton's No. 17; First Jersey in Team History to be Retired

Todd Helton has had a lot to do with the success that the Colorado Rockies have had over the years. Over the span of his career he set all kinds of team records including most hits (2,519), home runs (369), doubles (592), walks (1,335), runs scored (1,401), RBIs (1,406), games played (2,247), and total bases (4,292).

When you have numbers like that it is only fitting that the team do one thing--retire his jersey.

What makes this honor even more significant is that it will be the first time in franchise history that the team has retired a number.

The deed will go down on August 17 and be the highlight of 'Retire 17' weekend. On the 15th the stadium will give out 15,000 bobble heads followed by collectible jersey night and then bobble head gnome night the day of the ceremony.

It's been a good run Todd. Thanks for the memories. If anyone wants to send me one of the bobble head gnomes that would be great.
