NBA Commissioner Adam Silver Invites Baylor's Isaiah Austin to the Draft

Thursday was going to be a big day for Baylor big man Isaiah Austin. He probably wasn't going to be a first rounder in the NBA draft, but someone was going to take the 7'1" center. During his time at Baylor he proved to be a solid player and with the right mentor/coach who knows what could have happened.

Yes, could have. Since he's been diagnosed with Marfan Syndrome--a genetic mutation that leads to problems in connective tissues throughout the body--that dream is over.

He got the news himself Saturday night from his mom, but found the strength to talk about it with ESPN on Sunday:

As it turns out he is going to have a chance to be at the draft anyway as a guest of NBA commissioner Adam Silver:

It will be a little bittersweet, but hopefully it can provide him with some closure.
