Rams Jake Long Puts His Money Where His Mouth is; Donates $1 Million to Charity

Jake Long is a big, big man (6'7" and 322 pounds). That's why the St. Louis Rams were willing to pay him $36 million to block for Sam Bradford over the next four years--but as it turns out he is more than just a big man in size.

The former Michigan offensive lineman made a donation to North Star Reach, a camp in Michigan for kids with serious life threatening illnesses. It was announced at a function Saturday night. He could have done like most athletes (when it comes to charitable donations) and given $5000 or $10,000. Any donation is a good one after all, right?

Instead he took compassion and charity to a whole different level--$1 million.

Plans are for construction on the camp to break ground in July, but they are still a few million short. So far $20 million has been raised; they need another $6 million to reach their goal.
